Getting started with an account is not a hard task as HomeZada is simple to use. The visuals are self-explanatory and there are plenty of links on the website with explanations through articles and videos.
How To:
Let’s walk through the process and dig deeper into some of the easy ways that HomeZada can make managing your home a more efficient task.
Set Up:
Go to Rosie on the House and choose the Homeowner resources tab. HomeZada is the first item on the drop-down menu or go to RosieOnTheHouse.com/app. Click on the Sign-Up button for a free sign up of the app. Using the free app allows you to sign in and look around. You can establish your account with some basic info about your home and get started on your home inventory as well as upload documents. There are 3 levels of use; Essential (Free), premium ($99 per year), and the Deluxe Plan for up to 3 homes ($189 per year).
*We like the Premium Version and Rosie listeners can get the annual plan for $69 per year by entering the code ‘rosie’ at checkout. At the Premium level homeowners can access portals for home finances, projects, and home maintenance.
Learn About the Status of Your Investment in your Home
The Finance tab holds tons of information to help you evaluate the value of your home investment. The mortgage button breaks down your payment by principal and interest, provides a calculator that shows what scheduling an extra payment can do to accelerate paying off your mortgage and has a section for downloading your mortgage documents.
Other things to learn in this section include an assessment of your home insurance, property value and a space to create a home budget.
*With the Deluxe Plan, you can access the ‘For Sale’ portal, list your home and transfer the HomeZada account to the new owner! That is a great amenity to offer to the new homeowner.
Record Your Homes Inventory
Every year, in January, the Rosie team encourages our listeners to be sure and add your Christmas gifts to your home inventory. The problem is many homeowners have not taken the time to create a list of their belongings. Making a list is extremely important for homeowners’ insurance claims in the event of loss, fire or theft as this list provides proof of ownership and makes it easier to establish an insurance claim and receive a fair reimbursement.
Choose the Home Inventory button on your HomeZada dashboard to get started on this important task. You will easily find options to make a list of each item and include photos and videos. If you are limited in time, start with detailed photos. Take photos of the contents of rooms, closets, drawers, storage spaces, and safes etc. When you have time, you can go back and create a detailed list room by room and space by space. This is easily done on any devise as pictures can be taken right from the app and stored in your account. This not only saves space on your local device but also stores the pictures in a secured account preventing anyone from seeing it on your device if it was ever stolen or hacked.
Home Maintenance
The Home Maintenance tab is full of helpful tips on caring for your home. Not only are there lists of tasks to be done, but there are also links to how to get them done. One view of the calendar section lists the tasks and how often they need to be done. There is a calendar to schedule the tasks when it fits into your schedule. The calendar has a sharable feature allowing you to import it into your main online calendar.
*Pro –tip: Include pictures and details for faucets, plumbing fixtures, garbage disposal etc. under the Maintenance tab. The information can be accessed from wherever you are with your phone. If your spouse calls to say the garbage disposal is broken, you will have all the information you need without heading home first.
A well-maintained home has more value. We like to say that the value is not only monetary. A home that is not in need of delayed repair is gratifying and sets you free to get out and enjoy Arizona!
Projects
This section is a game changer when it comes to organizing your home projects. The Projects tab is useful whether you are hiring someone or taking on a DIY project. Helpful features include:
- Tracking multiple projects
- Creating a budget
- Creating a project using one of HomeZada’s many templates
- A link to Rosie on The House Trusted Partners
- A place to compare and analyze bids
- A HomeZada tab for your online bookmark to link add your shopping finds to the ‘compare choices’ section
- And more!
Taking the time to set up a HomeZada account pays big dividends. All the information you need for your home will be right at your fingertips and help in staying up to date on maintenance, staying on budget, and efficiency with projects.
