Try laying oversized tiles on the floor instead of standard or mosaic sizes. The big tiles give the appearance that the room is bigger. Larger tiles look great on the walls, too.
Another trick: Match the floor in the powder room to the floor in the hallway just outside the half-bath door. When the door is open, the matching floors will give the small room an elongated look. A good choice for this: hardwood.
