Your role in maintaining your air conditioning or heating system is just as important as the job of the service technician who performs your annual maintenance inspection. During the summer months you should be:
- Changing your air conditioning filters once a month. This is especially important during the summer when dust and allergens circulate. Even if the filter’s manufacturer recommends changing every other month, do it every month as Arizona’s dusty air can clog a filter in a hurry. A tip: Make it a habit to change your filter whenever you pay your monthly electric bill.
- Removing plants, fallen branches and debris from around your outdoor HVAC equipment. Objects that are too close can prevent adequate air flow. A clearance of 18″ to 24″ is considered the minimum for free air space around all A/C equipment.
- Vacuuming registers and air vents regularly. Heating and cooling contractors say simple dust and dirt cause almost half of their service calls.
Keeping up with these simple tasks will cause for a cleaner, more efficient, more comfortable environment for you to wait out the high temperatures!
