Julie from The Arizona Farm Bureau and guest chili farmer Ed Curry.

Ed give the history of how his family got into chilis.

Ed’s farm produces high quality seed for chilis. Including Hatch, NM Home of Hatch chilis. But his focus is on genetics. Creating a stable heat for a growing market.

Ed developed a pepper with mild heat, known as Arizona 20. Its the standard for green and red chili in the US.

Ed goes deep into the science of ‘gene packages’ to develop various types of chilis. And the placenta wall, the lining that gives the peppers heat.

Sampling some of the pepper mutations. More into the science and genetics of what Ed figures out to create types of peppers.

He compares it to building with Lego blocks.

Ed sells his seed all over the world, including the ‘Chili Belt’ in the western US.

They furnish about 90% of the chili seed market.

Discussion of the chilis that have 100 times the value of spinach. Peppers are good and healthy. Ed details some of the methods they use to produce chili.

Ed is CRAZY ABOUT CHILIS! Love what he does.

Ed like to teach people how to select and identify the many types.

How long in length can you grow a chili?

For a stucco home, Rosie explains how to determine if it needs painting by using a cloth. Power washing to clean the surface and the ‘back rolling’ method to seal with paint.
