Grand Canyon University Historian Dr. David Dean talks about the history of Memorial Day.

Started as Decoration Day around 1868 to simply decorate the graves of fallen soldiers.

The US started the 3 day Memorial Day Weekend at the end of May in 1971.

Take the time to reflect on those who gave the ultimate sacrifice as well as the unofficial kickoff of summer to celebrate.

Explains the tradition of placing poppie flowers on graves.

Two kinds of apples grow well here:  The Anna and The Dorset Golden.

Apples, peaches, and stone fruits are perfect to perserve.  Mulberries tree for fruit and shade.
