Snap Crackle Popping Door

CALLER

• Paul has a front door with a glass panel across the middle.  When the afternoon sun hits it, the door ‘snap crackle pops’ a lot for 4 or 5 hours.  Home is 10 years old in a gated HOA community.  No shade panel is allowed outside the door.  Suggest the glass might need glazing with rubber spacers

So Called Contract & Renting Your Roof

CALLER

• Joan’s 85 year old Mother got a knock on the door from a roofer/painter who inquired about doing work on her home.  Joan found the name of the contractor and has an ROC number.  However her Mom signed a note for $3400 to have him power wash the home.  Left a mess.  He’s demanding to be paid for a 10-15 minute power washing.  What’s a fair price.

COMMENTARY

• Regarding Joan’s situation, Rosie explains when signing a contract, he has to give her a right to rescind the contract for 72 hours.  Otherwise the contract is void

CALLER

• Ed was thinking about solar but found it wasn’t practical.  Got a notice from APS offering to install solar panels on Ed’s roof to generate power for their grid meaning they are renting Ed’s roof to create power.  In return, Ed would receive a credit on his bill.  Rosie explains this is a legitimate offer!  But has questions about his roof and lease agreement.

• Jim has a home built in 2003.  In the kitchen, there’s a crack where the drywall is taped together.  Should he call a painter or a drywall person to take care of that
