Harper’s Nurseries & Landscaping Company is here to take your questions!
Caller:
Recommendation – Jay thinks it sounds like carpenter bees. They love to get into dead wood and old dead limbs
Callers:
Recommendation – It’s very tough to know, but she could find a really good produce manager and try to get an explanation. Maybe, sample a piece of fruit 1st.
*The Arizona Department of Agriculture could direct you to a few local farmer’s markets to hunt for the perfect peach.
Recommendation – African daisies don’t need that great of soil, so her husband shouldn’t need to add too much. Some loose sand and plant them late October and early November. Next spring when they burn up and die, rake them around a little to get the seed loose and they’ll come through next year.
Recommendation – It could be salt or desication. Those trees need a lot of water & he could add gypsum to the soil around the tree. It could need a few long, deep soaking. The brown leaves could be unavoildable with the extreme heat of the summer.
Text From a Listener:
Recommendation – Absuletly, there are all different kinds of plants to help this & the milkweed is definitely one.
Caller:
Recommendation – We’d put out an ad for them on Craigslist. There should be someone who would like to take them up on it.
Caller:
Recommendation – He knows what to do and unfortunately he needs to replace it. They are really tough to grow and Jay would recommend a red push pistache tree. It gives great fall cover and does much better in our climate.
*Jay gives his final thoughts and what to do out in your yard this time of year.

“Should I Stay or Should I Go”
Callers:
Recommendation – Most plumbers have leak detection systems and should be able to find it. We’d call a plumber like Stampede Plumbing, Babcock Plumbing or Walker Plumbing 1st. Plus, we’d test the water to see what is in the water and all this could help determine where the leak is.
Recommendation – It should have been caught ahead of time. Try not to remove the tile & remove the feet to gain the height. He can put rubber feet on the bottom to protect it, but that shouldn’t happen.
Another question to ask yourself “Should I Stay Or Should I go?”
Callers:
Recommendation – He can do a pressure valve tester at a local hardware store. Make sure no water is running anywhere in the home before you do. It should be no higher than 65 psi. Rosie describes the process, so listen for specifics.
Recommendation – We’d start with a whole home energy audit with REEis Home Performance & Air Conditioning or Green ID. They’ll be able to determine if your ductwork is sealed up and the air flow is even across the home. Rosie also talks through how he can do it himself.
Continuing with “Should I Stay or Go?”
Letter From a Listener:
Recommendation – We didn’t say “You have to move into a single story” If you’re healthy, we agree!
Caller:
Recommendation – The home is 35 years old and breakers do wear out. We’d just replace the GFI outlets, it would solve the problem. She can call The Mighty Electricians.

Co-Owner of Arizona Painting Company, Doug Caris is here to talk paint, paint, paint!!
Caller:
Recommendation – Since it’s been painted before, it’ll need to be cleaned thoroughly and if there is rust it will need to be wire brushed clean and primed. It can be sprayed and it’s usually done to make it a cleaner look with no brush marks.
Caller:
Recommendation – Make sure the surface is completely clean, then use an adhesion primer that is good for wood. It needs to be specifically made for adhering to wood surfaces, then put your paint on.
*We discuss different primers for different applications.
Callers:
Recommendation – Call Arizona Painting Company!
Recommendation – It was very commonly used & it’s not used much at all and there are products that are easier/better to use. You can get you a quality PPG Pittsburgh Paints product to use.
Recommendation – Test for chalkiness and do a thorough visual inspection to look for fading and imperfections where two different materials meet up.
Caller:
Recommendation – Yes! If it needs to be repaired, they subcontract the job and then get the paint done themselves.
