Callers:
Recommendation – Foundations are 2 feet deep and there is very little reason to go into that. They’ll usually just hit the wall and go sideways. We’d be more concerned with sidewalks and other hardscapes. He could use a root barrier to prevent any chance of damage.
Recommendation – We’ll tackle it in the next break……
Recommendation’s from the last break…..If it’s a young tree, it can take some time to get established and produce juicy fruit. Damaged tree can use nutrients to keep the tree alive and the fruit will suffer. Improve the cultural conditions with proper watering and nutrients.
*John talks about composting and what goes into starting your own pile.
Caller:
Recommendation – Saquaro’s are protected and usually require a permit. Call the city and make sure that it is legal to do that. If it’s illegal, it could be a big fine to move it.
*common issues with Saguaro Cactus and what to look for and treatments.
Recommendation – When all the tree leaves are dropping, it’s usually something below the ground that’s causing it. Check for irrigation & fertilizer issues and make sure she’s not putting compost too deep into the soil around the tree or near the trunk. Just make sure you’re not over-watering.
Recommendation – Since he planted in June, he needed to water significantly more. He should have been watering every 3 days while the tree gets established.
