Romey hosts the show from the SAHBA Homeshow in Tucson

-He gives us an update on Rosie and Jennifer’s trip to Germany!

-Romey shares his adventure getting down to Tucson…..flat tires, the wrong spare…missing tools…not a fun trip.

Sandy – She put in several citrus trees a few years ago and last summer there is a black spot on one of them. In the meantime, her lime tree isn’t producing either. She’s gotten mixed advice and nothing is working. What would we do?

Recommendation – Even though they have not changed the watering, that might be the problem. The watering should change as the tree matures. She did not need to add a lime tree, they are self pollinators. Correct watering should fix it.

Caller:

Roy – He has a ton of clover growing in his yard and wants to know how to get rid of it without killing his lawn?

Recommendation – Tony says go with a weed & feed, but verify that the heat won’t effect it. Some will damage you’re lawn if it’s over 90 degrees.

*Tony and Romey talk about the best way to grow a healthy lawn in Arizona’s unique climate. Pre-emergent is key to eliminating weeds before they start!

Romey & Tony join us by phone after the a fire alarm goes off and we have to relocate while they check it out!

Recommendation – The cracks in the tile are probably in the slab too. He can call Arizona Foundation Solutions in Tucson or Phoenix.

Dean – He’s heard us talk about the AC running longer instead of turning on and off….how can you regulate it?

Recommendation – He needs to make sure the equipment he has is best for his situation. Most units are over-sized and that’s why they turn off and on so much. Also, in heat pumps, the ‘heat strips’ don’t help & can be removed. (make sure you’re AC company checks this out) Learn more about “time of use” plans from your utility company.

Leonard called in and wants to know if radiant barriers or attic fans are worth the money?

Recommendation – Robert and Romey discuss when it should be used…Rosie does NOT like them, but both can be used in the correct application. BE VERY WARY!
(We do NOT like Attic Fans!!! You’re drawing air conditioned air into your hot attic)
