More Tips from Jay for this time of year:

  • Don't jump the gun on winter lawns and flowers yet....hold off on planting too early.

From vegetables to BEEF.......Buy your beef direct from the ranchers and cut out the middle man. Go to Fill Your Plate and search "beef" or click here.

  • Barbara - Her grapefruit tree has its typical fruit for this time of year, but it's also blooming and it's never done this before. Is that normal?

Recommendation - If the plant looks normal and healthy other than the blooming, it's fine. Plants can be tricked into blooming this time of year.

  • Bev - She's worried about her yellow squash. Some look good, but others are just flowering and dying off.

Recommendation - It's pretty normal and just means some of the flowers aren't pollinating.

  • Al - He has a 6 foot honey locust tree in a planter and wants to know when it's the best time to plant it in the ground.
Recommendation - Fall is the best time to plant most of your landscape trees and shrubs. Mid-September through Mid-November.
