DO BLACKBERRIES GROW IN ARIZONA?

This question we will turn over to one of our loyal listener as proof of just how well berries can do in Arizona!

Subject: Blackberries

Just wanted to show you a few of the blackberries we picked from our bushes this year. A neighbor down the street gave us a few of his runners over 10 years ago and now we have a few patches totaling about 50 feet long. We don’t do anything special for them, but having them in the path of flood irrigation I’m sure helps. Weather conditions must have been perfect this year because we picked over 25 quarts the past 3-4 weeks and still have more to pick. Most of the berries are in the quarter size range, but quite a few made it to the silver dollar size.

We enjoy the show and listening to you answering other listeners’ questions, which often times could have been our question. Keep up the good work.
