IS IT OK TO RUN MY A/C FAN ON ‘ON’ ALL SUMMER?

A thermostat has two settings: “on” and “automatic.” In the “on” position, the fan will run constantly all day and night. On “auto,” the fan will come on only when the compressor comes on.

During Monsoon, when our humidity is triple the norm, the a/c unit removes the humidity from your indoor air. Leaving the fan in the “on” position, will pull in the humid air from outside and blow it straight back into your home. This cycle is extremely energy inefficient, so the fan should be in the “auto” position.

After the monsoon, however, you can run your fan all you want. But with that amount of air circulation, remember to change your filters regularly.
