Maintaining and Servicing Your A/C System Drain Line
In the below video, Zac of Rosie Certified Partner Temperature Control, Inc. of Tucson explains what homeowners can do to maintain their heating and cooling systems and the importance of getting heating and cooling systems professionally serviced.
Some maintenance you can do yourself, but often it is best to have a professional involved in order to ensure further problems are not created.
Question: What do you use to clean out the drain line?
Answer: Use an air compressor and simply blow air from the A/C to the outside.
Most A/C guys use an air compressor and simply blow air from the A/C to the outside. With two people involved, one uses the air compressor inside shooting the air and one on the outside confirming the lint ball blows out and water begins to run free.
If this doesn’t solve it, an A/C technician will need to get involved. You do not want to root out that PVC line and risk cracking it or breaking a joint – this could lead to major water damage.
This is a problem you should have serviced every year. If it is causing more trouble than that, the next step is to determine why so much lint and debris is getting into the condensate pan in the first place and solve that.
