Dr. Dean talks about the railroads, trains and their connection with the history and growth of Arizona.

Railroads are one of the most important ‘engines’ of economic growth in the 19th century. The country was built by trains.

The Transcontinental Railroad was historic in creating commerce from east to west.

Dr. Dean explains how US Congress financed the building and right of ways for railroads.

Arizona railroads began thru the state in the south with the Southern Pacific Railroad.

The main railroads goes east-west because the economy was traveling in those directions. Bringing freight and eventually passengers.
